Dr. Gib Benschoter, DVM, heads our medical team. He attended Shawnee Mission East and is a 1990 graduate of Kansas State University. After obtaining his degree, he spent his years practicing in Southern California. During that time, he served as Chief of Staff of a large 24 hour emergency hospital. He recently returned home and brings a special interest in dermatology, internal medicine, and surgery to Mission Road Animal Clinic. In addition, he feels client education is the foundation to providing quality health care for your pet. In his free time, he enjoys walking his Golden Retriever, tennis, golf, and coaching his son's basketball team.

Dr. Jenny Tate, DVM, grew up in western Kansas. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with degrees in English and French. Deciding to finally pursue her true passion, working with animals and the people who love them, Dr. Tate graduated from Colorado State University in 2000. She has practiced veterinary medicine in the Kansas City area for nearly seven years. She and her husband, Andy, stay busy chasing their toddler, Nate, and caring for their new daughter, Elizabeth. They also have two dogs, Max and Flag, to add to the household chaos. Dr. Tate has a particular interest in internal medicine and has a special love for her geriatric patients and their unique needs. When not working or mothering, Dr. Tate enjoys running and reading. | |
Andrea grooms at Mission Road Animal Clinic every Monday and Tuesday. She grew up on a farm and began working at petsmart at age 19. She then began grooming under a professional show dog groomer. Then she began working at two veterinary clinics. Andrea has been grooming for five years and loves all animals. She can do breed specific grooms or customize a cut just for your pet. | |
Betty works in the reception area at Mission Road. She has worked at animal clinics for the past 30 years, 27 of them being at Ranchmart Animal Clinic when it was around the corner and here at Mission Road. Betty loves her work and all the nice people she meets daily. She and her husband have two furry "children" who reside at their house. Daisy May, a miniature long haired Dachshund, and Wilber, an orange and white cat. The dog and cat are best friends and spend their days chasing each other around the living room, wrestling, and taking naps together. | |
Christy has worked at animal clinics most of her life. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician and is currently in nursing school. Christy has a two-year-old daughter and a special interest in equine. |

Katie has a little over one year of experience in the veterinary field and is learning new things daily up front in the reception area. She was born and raised in Mission, Kansas and lives at home with her lhasa apso, Doogie, and her English Mastiff, Bronx. | |
Laura helps out as a part-time receptionist and technician for the clinic. She joined the Mission Road team in March of 2006, and was an associate at petco for 2 years prior to that. Laura attends Johnson County Community College part-time, majoring in Interactive Media. She and her fiance, Kyle, live in Overland Park. They have two collies, Andy and Chrissy, an orange tabby cat, Loki, and a quarterhorse named Ruby. | |
Melissa is a Technician at Mission Road. She joined us in February 2005 with 10 years of experience in the veterinary field and a special interest in dentistry. She grew up in Prairie Village, and graduated from the UMKC conservatory of Music in 2002. Melissa continues her singing at Unity Temple on the Plaza. Married to Adam in 2004, they welcomed their first daughter, Hannah, in March 2006. At home in Overland Park, they share their home with their golden retriever mix, Sophie, and two tabby cats, Violet and Sequora. | |
Sharron has been with Mission Road Animal Clinic since its move from Ranchmart, where she started in April of 1974. She now works as the Saturday receptionist. She and her husband Mike and eight children have shared their home with the neighborhood squirrel babies, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, goldfish, and a parakeet. They now have 16 grandchildren and two cats, Xena-Warrior Princess, and Helen. A 1995 graduate of the William Allen White School of Journalism, KU, Sharron worked a short time as a freelance writer for Veterinary Economics Magazine. Sharron loves people and pets of all kinds. | |
